The Rooster Teeth show creator
and an Austin-based animator Monty Oum has passed away on Sunday in a hospital, confirmed Rooster
Teeth chief executive Matt Hullum on
their website.
Monty
had suffered a severe allergic reaction during a simple medical
procedure last ten days that left him in a coma. He fought bravely till ten
days but his body did not recover properly.
A GoFundMe campaign had started for Oum’s
medical treatment and the funds had been raised $195,088
till Monday afternoon.
Monty was the creator, writer and
producer of the animated series RWBY
which produced the show “Red vs. Blue” only two
seasons and third season was in development.
In
the post, Hullum thanked Rooster Teeth fans for their support of the campaign.
He wrote, “As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of
flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination
to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty
like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.”
Oum
is survived by his wife Sheena, his father and his brother and sisters. Our thoughts
and feelings are with Monty’s family and friends in this difficult time.
