Operation Mockingbird - what is it?

Frank Wisner, established Operation Mockingbird in the eraly 1940s. Wisner was the director of the Office of Policy Coordination (OPC, the espionage and counter-intelligence branch of the CIA.

The idea behind Operation mockingbird was to buy influence at major media enterprises. And no prizes for guessing that this happened on the sly without the knowledge of the common man. The operation mockingbird ensured that there were enough reporters on the payroll of different news agencies.

The operation mockingbird stared in the early 40s and continues to this day successfully. While we may believe that we have a free press, the CIA continues to make an impression on our minds on the sly.

This CIA operation was headed up by Frank Wisner, Allen Dulles, Richard Helms, and Philip Graham (publisher of The Washington Post). Wisner had taken Graham under his wing to direct the program code-named Operation Mockingbird and both have presumably committed suicide.
