The best known actor and
playwright Matthew Cowles has died
on 22 May. He passed away at the age of 69. Matthew Cowles was well known by
his role the villainous Billy Clyde Tuggle on long-running soap opera ABC’s All My Children.
It confirmed by his manager Tsu Tsu Stanton
on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately available. "He
was a very gifted and kind man who loved life and everyone," Stanton wrote
on Twitter post on Friday.
Matthew Cowles spanned his career
in film and television over four decades. He also played a role in small TV
series including bit roles in Kojak (1976), Miami Vice (1985), Law & Order (1991) and a
recurring role in HBO's Oz (2003) and
BBC One's Life on Mars (2008-09).
He earned two daytime Emmy
nominations for his portrayal of Tuggle on the long-running soap opera.
Cowles is survived by his
62-year-old actress wife, who currently stars on the hit show The Good Wife and
two daughters Isabel and Lily.
