MLB.com showed a video to honor the
anniversary of the Iron Horse’s heartbreaking farewell to baseball. Lou Gehrig
was honored in Yankee Stadium where he made his emotional "Luckiest
Man" speech, Seventy five years ago On July 4, 1939.
The Yankee hero
passed away just after two years from speech. He had diagnosed with ALS. He was
at 36 at the time of death and told during speech he was "the luckiest man
on the face of the earth."
Derek Jeter also
appeared in the video, along with Lucas Duda of the Mets. "His record was
thought to be unbreakable," says Ripken, "Lou was in my thoughts, my
speech and my talk with the media afterwards."
Lou Gehrig was
the first baseman who played 17 seasons
in MLB for the New York Yankees.
July 4 is the birthday of country but
for baseball fans it is the great day in memory of great player. The fans could
take a moment to appreciate the legend of Gehrig this day.
