Earthquake: California’s Bay Area shaken by 6.1 magnitudes



California’s Bay Area has shaken and rattled by an earthquake of 6.1 magnitudes. The earthquake which was measured Napa Valley on Sunday morning at 3:30 that was strongly shaken the houses like a boat on water.

It occurred near the town of Napa. There have not been any deaths reported till now but injured 87 people. It was strongly damage the building, stores has destroyed due to shaking and some other parts of highways have closed for security reason. The police authorities said there have been numerous casualties.    

The epicenter of the earthquake was in the north of the Bay Area, it was the biggest quake since the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 that wreaked havoc in Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Oakland. That quake measured 6.9 magnitudes that killed 63 people and injuring 3,757.  

It is estimating, at least 42,000 homes are without power in the area. The USGS says the probability of another aftershock is high in the next week.

The earthquake got hit the Bay area in 25 years. Now it is the responsibility of San Francisco authorities to reinforce the efforts and made plans to retrofit buildings.
