Raksha Bandhan: brother sister relationship



Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu Festival that shows the love of brother and sister. The festival is observed by Hindus, Jains, and many Sikhs. It is also called Rakhi Purnima.

This day sister’s prays to God for their brother’s well-being, prosparity and happiness and brother’s vow to protect her against all odds in life. The festival falls on the Full Moon day of the Shravan month, according to Hindu calendar.  

On the day of Rakhi sisters tie a thread around her brother’s wrist. It is also the day of sweets and different type of foods that makes by the sisters to her brothers. Raksha Bandhan is the Festival that mostly celebrated in whole country with love.

Bollywood also plays an important role in this festival by dedicating songs for brother and sister love. One of very old and most memorable song of Raksha Bandhan is Bhaiyaa Mere Rakhi Ke Bandhan from Chotti Behan. It is Sung by Lata Mangeshkar and written by Shailendra.    

Other most known songs are Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka from Hare Rama Hare Krishna(sung by Lata Mangeshkar), Meri Pyari Behaniya from Sachaa Jhutha (Sung by Kishore Kumar), Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin from Agneepath (sung by Sonu Nigam and he grabed major singing award for this song).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the Nation on Raksha Bandhan and he tweeted "On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my warm wishes to the people of the country”.

The festival shows how beautiful the brother and sister relationship and their love-bonding.
