ISIS overtakes Iraq’ largest Christian city

Iraq’s thousand of Christians in the city to flee caused by the Islamic militant, who have forced to Christians either they flee away or accepted Islam. Islamists Militant has overtaken some parts of eastern Syria and western and northern Iraq.  

The ISIS group formerly known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the group came in 2010 with its new name after al-Qaeda in Iraq. The organization is led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The Iraqi city of Qaraqosh has completely under the control of the militant al Qaeda offshoot, confirmed by French govrement. "France is highly concerned about the latest progress of ISIS in the North of Iraq and by the taking of Qaraqosh, the largest Christian city of Iraq, and the horrible acts of violence that are committed," French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said in a statement. 

Iraq's second-largest city Qaraqosh, 50000 people have now under control of ISIS approximately 20 miles southeast of Mosul. When ISIS had taken over Mosul many of residents had fled to Qaraqosh. But in Mosul ISIS issued an ultimatum to Christians, if they want to live there Convert to Islam, pay a fine or face "death by the sword." 

The group has aggressively targeted Iraqi minority religious groups. 

Kurdish forces were involved in heavy clashes protecting the area from ISIS. France called an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council to discuss the threat in Iraq.
