Texas Governor Rick Perry indicted
by a jury on two felony charges of abusing power in the state in last week. The
charges booked by authorities where Perry plans to give fingerprints and a mug
shot on Tuesday.
He reached a Travis County
courthouse where he declared his innocence and vowed to fight the charges he
faces.
“I’m going to enter this
courthouse with my head held high,” Perry told a crush of reporters. “This
indictment is fundamentally a political act that seeks to achieve at the
courthouse what could not be achieved at the ballot box,” he said to loud
cheers.
The governor smiled in his
booking photo in which he wore a black suit and blue tie. Authorities did not
issue an arrest warrant.
“This indictment was
fundamentally a political act." Perry said in a statement after he left
from his booking.
He said all the actions that I
took were under law and they were proper and lawful. When he free from booking,
he went for ice cream, tweeting a picture of himself holding a cone.
