Almost year ago, Shirley Jennifer Poliakoff, then 19, was found dead on the morning of May 6, 2007 in her apartment. The medical examiner had said her death was caused due to acute cocaine and alcohol intoxication.Known as Jenny to her friends, Shirley Poliakoff was an Alpha Phi sorority.
A year later,as hundreds of students attend the candlelight vigil for Shirley Poliakoff, her parents commend the SDSU's president for taking action against the drug problem. 96 arrests were made and 75 of whom were San Diego State students.
It is a sad truth of modern day america, young people like Shirley Poliakoff are exposed to the danger of losing their lives at an age where life has just begun
