A Honduran beauty queen “María José Alvarado Muñoz” and her
sister “Sofia Trinidad Alvarado”
were found dead on Wednesday near hometown Santa Barbara.
The bodies of Miss World Honduran
and her sister were discovered in a shallow grave in a mountains area beside a
river, Honduran authorities told CNN affiliate Televicentro.
The two sisters
had been missed for several days, the sister’s boyfriend and one other man has
been arrested.
The investigation has started
after two men took in custody, Plutarco
Antonio Ruiz Rodriguez and Aris Valentin Maldonado Mejia. The police have believed
that other persons are also involved in the murder.
The sisters were disappeared after
going to spa for a birthday party for Ruiz in Santa Barbara on Thursday night.
Sofia was shot by her boyfriend
Ruiz after seeing her girlfriend dance with another man and Maria was shot two
times in back when she tried to flee after seeing her sister, according to
Police.
More than 300 people were
gathered for funeral of two sisters who was held in a tiny church near their
hometown. “I’m dismayed by what happened,”
Casana told the CNN affiliate.
Julia Morley, the chairman of the
Miss World pageant said the entire contestant will hold a special service in
honor to Maria and her sister.
Honduras has the world’s highest
murder rate, our thoughts and prayers are with the two sisters’ family and
friends.
